Project Overview:

The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners Joint Venture has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension project, the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority. The project involves extending the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan to 130th Street and Doty Avenue.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare plans for engineering and construction, including highway, bridge, and tunnel components.
  • Support the engineering department in designing and drafting plans, roadway profiles, cross sections, and general civil engineering/infrastructure project elements.
  • Develop means and methods drawings, ensuring compliance with required standards and workflows.
  • Work closely with engineers, surveyors, managers, and other departments to integrate quality and safety measurements.
  • Report on design development progress and circulate drawings for review and comment.
  • Assist in creating standards, libraries, and templates, and train junior drafters.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as CAD Designer/Draftsman in the construction industry and in infrastructure works.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Minimum 1 year experience on Formwork, Work Sequences, and Construction Methods drawings.
Work Environment:
  • Dynamic and challenging work environment.
  • Tasks include maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols in construction sites.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.
