Job Summary

Masonite International Corporation is seeking a skilled Saw Crew Member to join our team. As a Saw Crew Member, you will be responsible for custom cutting sills and extenders while maintaining acceptable production levels. You will also be responsible for minimizing downtime of trim saws through efficient saw operation and ensuring all quality checks are completed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective communication with CTD-Trim Saw Operators to ensure saw setup is correct, including length, hold down, and fence position.
  • Complete product and component knowledge for Site 2000.
  • Eliminate downtime when feeding and running the saw at an acceptable rate that does not compromise productivity.
  • Properly use roller carts and buggies to eliminate downtime.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and organizational habits, including safe cleanup of the saw at the end of the shift.
  • Properly follow all safety-related procedures, including the use of safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Report all safety-related issues and machine breakdowns to the supervisor.
  • Meet minimum production requirements of averaging 1800 sills cut per shift.
  • Knowledge of cut lists and spec sheets.
  • Proper rotation between feeding and catching at lunch/meal breaks.
  • Perform all quality checks to ensure proper material, handwritten tag information, size, spec sizes, squareness, appearance, chipping, cracking, boxing quality, and stacking quality on all materials.
  • Knowledge of tape machine setup.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify causes of downtime and bottlenecks to eliminate.
  • Back up responsibilities may include drill, cover/gasket, and packing area.
  • Work effectively with the Shipping Supervisor and Cell Leaders to resolve all equipment and material-related issues.
  • Average 1800 sills cut per shift.
  • Excellent communication on the daily cut list and timing of materials with the cell leaders.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the daily cut list and its proper use and minimize cutting mistakes.
  • Be prepared to be a team player and work accordingly in any position requested by a lead or supervisor.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Contribute to our safety suggestions and help improve safety in the CTD/DET cell.
Requirements
  • Must have a complete knowledge of the entire product line of sills and extenders processed at our site.
  • Requires a working knowledge of all trim saws.
  • Approximately 6 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job.
  • Must be capable of reading a tape measure and new measuring equipment.
  • Educational requirements due to accountability of production require completion of 9th grade.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Working Conditions

Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to withstand heat in excess of 95 degrees.
