Job Overview:


The Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist will play a pivotal role in analyzing both internal and external business challenges, providing recommendations for optimal practices in offshore environments.

This position involves tackling intricate electrical engineering issues and operating autonomously with limited oversight.

The Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist may lead specialized teams or projects and is recognized as an authority in the electrical engineering domain.

Consequently, a profound understanding of electrical systems is essential, along with a comprehensive grasp of the electrical engineering discipline.


Key Responsibilities:

Utilize extensive knowledge to prepare and oversee the creation of critical project deliverables, which may include (but are not limited to):

  • Specifications and Datasheets
  • Electrical Load Lists
  • One-line Diagrams
  • Motor Control Schematics
  • Electrical Building and Equipment Layouts
  • Area Classification Studies and Plans
  • Lightning Protection Strategies
  • Conceptual Studies and Calculations
  • Relay Coordination
  • Cost and Planning Assessments

Lead Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to):

  • Thoroughly understanding the project contract, scope of work, design basis, specifications, timeline, and all inter-disciplinary requirements; proactively identifying potential issues and addressing them promptly.
  • Maintaining close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and the client's engineering team.
  • Evaluating, communicating, and managing changes with a full understanding of their impact on the project.
  • Overseeing the development and support of vendor packages.
  • Coordinating the review of supplier documentation for both electrical and non-electrical packages.
  • Supervising the Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical equipment, motors, and related systems.
  • Providing technical assistance to construction teams.
  • Developing procedures and offering detailed technical support for pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up activities as required by the project.
Qualifications:


Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Accredited engineering degree may be necessary depending on regional requirements.
  • A minimum of 15 years of comprehensive electrical engineering experience, with at least 10 years in the oil and gas sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of design methodologies, analytical techniques, and a thorough understanding of relevant standards, codes, and guidelines, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ANSI, as well as contemporary scientific and engineering practices.

Exceptional communication, project management, and execution capabilities are essential.

Advanced technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process, with significant experience using Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL), ETAP, and the MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSEE degree is preferred.
  • PE certification is preferred.
  • Experience on-site during construction and commissioning phases is preferred.
