Position Overview:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist specializing in pediatrics, you will perform essential respiratory care duties under the guidance of an Attending Physician or Chief Medical Officer. Your role will involve administering both routine and complex respiratory therapy procedures, ensuring optimal therapy coverage for patients in your designated area.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, assess, and monitor patients requiring ventilator or oxygenation support.
  • Assist in training and orienting new respiratory care staff.
  • Collect and analyze blood samples for gas determinations as directed by an attending physician.
  • Engage in quality assessment and improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Administer aerosolized medications and bronchial hygiene therapy.
  • Maintain clear communication with medical and nursing staff to improve care quality.
  • Document patient assessments and monitoring data accurately.
  • Stay updated on advancements in respiratory care and maintain competencies.
  • Monitor respiratory practices and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Conduct hemodynamic and pulmonary monitoring as trained.
  • Operate electrocardiography equipment and ensure safe testing procedures.
  • Prepare electrocardiograms for physician interpretation.
  • Ensure equipment safety and maintenance prior to use.
  • Record patient visits and tests in the appropriate format.
  • Adhere to safety, security, and infection control standards.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts to enhance service delivery.
  • May assume Charge/Lead responsibilities as needed.
  • Engage in interdepartmental collaboration for effective respiratory care service delivery.
  • Attend to pediatric and neonatal patients during transport as required.
  • Assist with patient assignments during staffing shortages across various departments.
  • Demonstrate service excellence and uphold organizational values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience:
Typically requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Education:
An Associate's degree is mandatory for employees hired after a specified date, while a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Verification of educational qualifications is required for specific roles.

Licensure and Certification:
A valid state respiratory license and registration as a Respiratory Therapist are essential. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, along with any additional certifications pertinent to pediatric care.
