PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Defines the roles and responsibilities for team leaders and production staff.
- Oversees, educates, guides, and assesses team members to foster collaboration. Directs the manufacturing workflow, safety protocols, maintenance schedules, and quality assurance methods.
- Empowered to strategize and oversee production operations while establishing priorities aligned with efficient practices and cost management.
- Synchronizes production efforts with control systems, maintenance teams, tool management, and quality assurance to achieve optimal production levels and resource utilization.
- Evaluates and interprets production, quality, maintenance, and operational data to identify the root causes of deviations from product standards or production challenges.
- Authorized to implement operational strategies and procedures aimed at resolving issues and enhancing product quality.
- Collaborates with engineering teams regarding modifications to machinery and equipment to boost production efficiency and product quality.
- Facilitates investigations and discussions to address team member grievances, collaborating with management for resolution.
- Accountable for promoting lean manufacturing principles.
- Ensures adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
- Anticipates labor needs and suggests modifications to equipment or layout as necessary.
- Adheres to all quality and environmental system standards.
- Contributes to initiatives that promote sustainable business practices.
- Works closely with the Production Manager and Team Leader to ensure compliance with all quality and environmental standards.
- Respects and values all team members.
- Performs additional essential functions as required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES FOR TRANSFER AREA:
Will oversee team members engaged in the following tasks:
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of die setup, press parameters, and the capability to initiate press operations from a complete shutdown.
- Commences press production runs in a continuous manner.
- Conducts quality inspections, including First Off/Last Off checks and all related inspection protocols.
- Handles die transportation, setups, and changes in the transfer press according to the production schedule.
- Executes all rail setups, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
- Installs, positions, and aligns dies on the bolster.
- Educates part packers on their job responsibilities.
- Maximizes efficiency for each job/die during press operations.
- Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through documented team discussions. Improvement initiatives will be utilized to enhance transfer press efficiency.
- Documents all issues related to dies and/or presses in detail and communicates these to the Press Improvement Teams.
- Collaborates closely with the Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die, and Maintenance to optimize press efficiency, changeover times, and repairs.
- Responsible for making adjustments to grippers, end stops, and coil feed parameters to minimize press downtime.
- Performs minor maintenance repairs as needed.
- Strictly follows all safety regulations in accordance with company policy.
- Establishes and maintains excellent housekeeping practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must possess mechanical aptitude and a proactive approach to driving improvements to meet established performance objectives.
- Must pursue appropriate training to operate a crane and forklift.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend down, exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and exert up to 25 pounds of force frequently. Near visual acuity and accommodation are necessary for reading machine dials, blueprints, and precision measuring tools used in part inspections. Hearing ability is essential for monitoring machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes, allowing for appropriate actions.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Employees may be exposed to high noise levels from operating machinery and physical hazards from moving equipment and machine components, as well as exposure to fumes, dust, or mist, and skin contact with oils and cutting fluids.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a metal stamping environment.
