Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Garage Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet vehicles. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient and safe operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prioritize daily vehicle work orders to guarantee timely repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Determine action to be taken on trailer breakdowns.
  • Assist with optimizing parts inventory control and establish vendor relations.
  • Train new mechanics as needed.
  • Maintain a network of vendors for road breakdowns.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and warehouse supervisors to meet equipment needs.
  • Direct employees on necessary equipment repairs.
  • Update personnel and payroll records regularly.

Additional Functions

  • Routine tours of the garage area to ensure proper work execution, respond promptly to questions, and provide assistance when necessary.
  • Follow federal, state, and local regulations as required.
  • Implement and enforce company policies.
  • Minimize driver delay time due to maintenance issues.
  • Achieve service goals for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
  • Develop processes for the EAM maintenance program.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Knowledge: Payroll systems, supervisory skills, record-keeping and filing systems, computer literacy, basic mathematical functions, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, DOT and environmental regulations.

Abilities: Collective bargaining agreement, effective verbal and written communication, dealing effectively with people, planning, organizing, working with minimal supervision.

Experience and Education: High school diploma, some college education preferred. Supervisory experience in transportation.

Physical Requirements: Long-distance walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting, reaching.

Working Environment: Indoors and outdoors, constant noise, temperature swings, diesel fumes, dust.
