Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Paramedic to join our team in the Emergency Department at Children's Health. As a Senior Paramedic, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced life support and emergency care to patients in the Emergency Department, including initiation of PIV catheters, priming IV fluids, and performing naso/oral/pharyngeal suctioning and insertion of NG/OG tubes.
  • Assist in emergency situations by initiating BLS and ALS lifesaving skills and assisting with chest compressions.
  • Document patient care in the electronic medical record per department and hospital guidelines.
  • Administer approved medications per physician order or protocol.
  • Apply family and patient-centered care to all job aspects and support families during all phases of care.
  • Assist in the training and development of new staff to the department and provide objective feedback to team leaders/ managers related to progress of new hires.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and maintain all required training.
  • Transport patients to procedures in adherence to hospital policy.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of job-related experience required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an acute care/emergency setting preferred.
  • At least 1 year of pediatric experience preferred.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements required.
  • Either one of: Texas EMT-P license or Texas LP licensure required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) 180 Days required.
  • ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) certification 180 Days required.
  • Any one of: BTLS, ITLS, or PHTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support/International Trauma Life Support, Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support) certification 180 Days preferred.
