Our Approach

We're embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. This means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday and Wednesday, to work together in person, and teams can choose where they work for the remainder of the week.

The Job

We're looking for a Lead Industrial Designer to help design our next generation of SimpliSafe branded home security products. This role is a great opportunity to influence and contribute to our new hardware developments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Product Management, User Research, and User Experience to set Industrial Design directions.
  • Identify and translate user needs into design concepts.
  • Develop and oversee designs from start to finish.
  • Communicate concepts to the design team, other multidisciplinary teams, and vendors.
  • Work across a range of different product categories, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Achieve innovative and appropriate design solutions for SimpliSafe home security products.
  • This position requires occasional travel.
Requirements:
  • Strong visualization skills, including quick concept sketching, 3D CAD modeling, and rendering.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and working closely with engineers.
  • Excellent storytelling and narrative skills, especially around your craft.
  • An enthusiasm for building quick prototypes.
  • Self-direction towards excellent work outcomes and comfort in an ambiguous environment.
  • Openness: Designers need to be flexible and open-minded.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 6+ years of professional experience in executing hardware design, outside of academic training.
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design (or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of designing products with both physical and digital components.
  • Experience working in highly collaborative design teams or other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with high-quality consumer products is a plus.
