Job Summary

Excelin Health Services is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for implementing standards of care for speech language pathology services and adhering to all conditions in the Service Agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations, assess home environments, and identify equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
  • Identify functional speech defects and establish a plan of care to improve patient function.
  • Administer speech therapy programs utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and equipment.
  • Recommend communication devices/aids as indicated.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians and other organization personnel to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Prepare and submit notes per organization policy.
  • Maintain clinical competency in speech language pathology practice and theory.
  • Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for other services and refer as appropriate.
  • Instruct patients, family/caregivers, and other organization healthcare personnel in the patient's treatment regime as indicated.
  • Supervise home health aides in procedures directly related to the speech–language therapy plan of care.
  • Perform other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech language pathology services.

Requirements

  • Possess a master's or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology (SLP) and meet either of the following requirements:
  • Be licensed as a speech language pathologist by the State in which the individual furnishes such service; or
  • If the State does not license speech-language pathologists:
  1. Must successfully complete 350 clock hours of supervised clinical practicum (or be in the process of accumulating such supervised clinical experience);
  2. Performed not less than 9 months of supervised full-time SLP services after obtaining a master's or doctoral degree in SLP or a related field; and
  3. Successfully complete an approved national examination in SLP
A minimum of one year's clinical experience in Speech–Language Pathology.Demonstrate good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.Possess and maintain current CPR certification.Be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured.

Skills Required

  • Pull, push, and/or lift 15-20 pounds on a daily basis.
  • Pull/push 125-200 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Pull/push 200 or more pounds on a regular basis.
  • Sit, stand, stoop, squat, walk, and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Drive in own car to and from patients' homes.
  • Work in patients' homes as well as agency offices.
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
