Transportation Surveyor

Under the direction of a Transportation Surveyor Party Chief or Senior Transportation Surveyor, the incumbent functions as office support to field survey crews, a member of a field survey crew, and/or performs complex surveying calculations. Responsibilities include preparing Right of Way and surveying maps, legal descriptions, and deeds, as well as providing information to the public and reducing and analyzing field data. As the incumbent progresses in experience, the work assigned will be more difficult, and the incumbent may function as a lead person over the activities of various surveying and technical personnel.

The position is located in Stockton, San Joaquin County. The incumbent typically splits time working in an air-conditioned office setting with artificial lighting and/or natural lighting and working in the field. Duties may require the use of a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods, and the incumbent must be able to travel to project locations away from their home, requiring overnight travel. The incumbent must also be able to work overtime when needed, work on foot near heavy traffic, and work in extreme weather conditions, including wet, dusty, and dirty environments.

• A valid Professional Land Surveying License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required for appointment to Range D.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
