Position Summary
This role involves supporting clinical team members by executing a range of responsibilities for patients within the professional scope of an LPN or Paramedic, utilizing a patient-centered care approach and working under the guidance of an RN or physician. Responsibilities also include managing patient scheduling, financial clearance, and pre-registration via phone.
This position entails administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy and conducting diagnostic assessments for patients at the Wound Care Center, under the supervision of a Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse or Board Certified Hyperbaric Registered Physician. The role also includes providing coverage in the Wound Care Center during the absence of the Hyperbaric Registered Nurse, with all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures being directed by the Hyperbaric Physician.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Engages directly in patient care, ensuring a secure and supportive environment.
- Responds promptly to patient needs.
- Facilitates patient transport as necessary.
- Welcomes patients and ensures all admission documentation is complete, actively participating in the admission process.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meals, bathing, and hygiene.
- Helps with patient positioning and transfers between bed, chair, wheelchair, or stretcher.
- Supports range of motion exercises and ambulation.
- Conducts Cardiac Rehabilitation exercises according to established protocols.
- Reports any abnormal conditions to the RN promptly.
- Assists in maintaining skin integrity using emollients and creams, caring for superficial skin injuries under RN supervision.
- Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy, including systems, structure, and functions.
- Applies principles of cleanliness and asepsis.
- Utilizes basic nutrition principles in patient care.
- Provides essential emergency care.
- Performs Point of Care procedures promptly, adhering to established policies and documenting necessary information while complying with quality control standards.
- Actively gathers information from the patient's healthcare provider and insurance pre-certification.
- Explains procedures and addresses inquiries regarding patient care and scheduled interventions.
- Identifies, reports, and documents changes resulting from disease or trauma across various body systems.
- Capable of applying simple dressings and assisting RN/MD with more complex dressing changes.
- Ensures accurate and thorough medication reconciliation.
- Updates the patient's medical record at each visit, including allergies, hospitalizations, and surgeries, in the electronic medical record system with accuracy and timeliness.
- Documents immunizations for Flu and Pneumonia.
- Conducts 12-lead EKGs.
- Obtains weight and essential patient information.
- Performs phlebotomy and monitors blood glucose levels.
- Travels to outreach satellite clinics as needed.
- Completes clerical tasks as required.
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse or Paramedic program.
- Licensure/Certification: If LPN - must possess current state licensure as a Practical Nurse or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact. If Paramedic - must have appropriate licensure by the state of AR. Current BLS certification is required at the time of employment.
- Experience: No prior experience required. A minimum of 6 months of continuous LPN or Paramedic experience is preferred.
