Pharmacist Position

This position is located within the Pharmacy Department of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Responsibilities
Incumbent will report to the Supervisory Pharmacist or designee.
Key Duties
- Select, procure, prepare and dispense medications;
- Properly interpret prescription;
- Review patient medical record for safety, appropriateness and effectiveness of drug therapy;
- Alert medical staff to any prescription or dosage that could be harmful to patient;
- Counsel patients on the use, storage, cautions and side effects of all medications dispensed;
- Interview patients to ascertain past medical and medication history;
- Participate in facility initiatives, attend meetings, conduct authorized outpatient clinics, document clinical activities, provide pharmaceutical services to focus on therapeutic drug monitoring; analyze medical regimen;
- Provide formal and informal education and in services to medical staff, pharmacy, nursing staff and patients and their families; training for pharmacy students; orientation to nurses and medical providers;
- Collaborate with other health professionals to develop treatment protocol, standards of practice and policies, participate in quality assurance and performance activities;

Working Conditions
Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period.
ESEP appointees typically serve a two year trial period.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
This is a designated position covered by Public Law, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.
COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
