Substance Abuse Counselor

Gateway Foundation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Use Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Use Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals overcome substance use disorders and achieve long-term recovery.

• Conduct client interviews and assessments to identify substance use disorders and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients, focusing on relapse prevention, problem-solving, and behavior modification.
• Collaborate with clients to develop discharge summaries and continuing care plans to ensure a smooth transition to aftercare services.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date treatment records, ensuring compliance with organizational, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in a helping profession from an accredited college or university.
• Previous counseling experience, preferably in substance use disorder or mental health treatment.
• Ability to obtain certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor from a recognized accrediting agency.
• Georgia Department of Corrections clearance to work in a correctional institution.
