Audit Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audit Manager to join our team at Louis Plung & Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple auditing, accounting projects and client engagements simultaneously, and scheduling, staffing, and coordinating engagement workflow.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and staff engagements using firm policies and procedures, delegate responsibilities to audit staff when possible to maximize workflow.
- Maintain contact with clients throughout the year, possess a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of client's business and industries they serve.
- Supervise staff and provide on-the-job training, review work papers and reports prepared by staff.
- Motivate staff by providing accurate, specific, and timely feedback and evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, and progress continually.
- Develop and manage budgets for engagements and review causes of any significant deviations from predetermined budgets.
- Prepare engagement letter for approval by partner.
- Work to develop responsible, trained staff by preparing performance evaluations.
- Maintain high professional standards.
- Keep partner informed of all important developments on engagement, analyze issues and recommend solutions.
- Communicate progress of engagements, issues, and resolutions to client.
- Prepare invoices to clients and communicate details of fees to clients.
- Assist in departmental or firm administration functions as assigned by the Audit Partners.
- Able to acquire, develop, and retain clients, nurture and develop relationships with prospective clients for services performed by the firm.
- Manage all client engagements, regardless of complexity, in an efficient, timely, and professional way.
- Evaluate internal controls and work programs prepared by staff.
- Anticipate issues areas of engagement and questions that will arise.
- Ensure that financial statements, and other reports are prepared in accordance with professional and firm standards and other regulatory groups.
- Possess a complete knowledge of the firm's philosophy and its opinions on financial matters.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or Master's degree in accounting, a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in another business discipline may qualify if it includes enough accounting credits to qualify for the CPA exam.
- A current and valid certified public accountant's license is required.
- Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA firm.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, verbal and written.
- Continuing professional education as established by the AICPA and applicable state society, averaging 40 hours annually.
- Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs and applicable state society.
- Proficient in use of computers and be familiar with tax software (preferably CCH) and tax research software.
- Frequent same day travel for work at client's offices, meetings, and seminars, using a personal vehicle.
- Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stay for work at clients, meetings, or seminars, often using a personal vehicle.
- Occasional overtime work required throughout the year, overtime and Saturday work may be required from mid-January through end of April as well as other times throughout the year depending on client needs.
- Minimal Safety Hazards: General office working conditions.
