Your Role
We are seeking a seasoned professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in crafting environmental documentation in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), specifically focusing on hydrogeologic resources. In this capacity, you will assist in evaluating and analyzing natural resources across various projects spanning multiple industries, including federal, state, and local initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Preparation of NEPA documents (Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements).
- Reviewing baseline reports and groundwater flow models.
- Conducting jurisdictional determinations for waters of the United States.
- Developing water monitoring and mitigation strategies.
- Performing wetland delineations and assessing hydrogeologic conditions.
Our NEPA projects primarily target mining, geothermal, and utility development on public lands. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in managing project development, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and leading natural resource initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include:
- Conducting comprehensive impact analyses across various natural resources.
- Collaborating with management and team members on research and technical report writing.
- Performing quality assurance and quality control reviews of analytical sections of environmental documents.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A thorough understanding of environmental impact analysis methods and NEPA regulations.
- Experience in reviewing groundwater flow models and conducting associated impact analyses.
- Proficiency in evaluating water quality reports and geochemical sampling data.
- Familiarity with water and monitoring well drilling processes and regulations.
- Knowledge of western water law applications.
Additionally, strong communication skills, the ability to motivate team members, and experience in project planning are essential. You should be adept at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and demonstrate collaborative problem-solving capabilities.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or a related field is required, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience. A Master’s degree is advantageous but not mandatory. Experience in environmental consulting or with federal/state environmental agencies is preferred.
This position offers the flexibility of remote work within our Environmental Services group, focusing on projects that primarily serve the western United States.
