Key Responsibilities
- Responsibilities will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
- Examine and assess oil and gas lease cases to ensure production accountability and adhere to the regulations established by Federal law concerning the management and safeguarding of Federal and Indian oil and gas resources.
- Perform Records Verification (RV) for a diverse range of cases. Select and execute Records Analysis (RA) evaluations.
- Ensure compliance of oil and gas operations with Title 43 of the Code of Federal Regulations Parts 3160 and 3170.
- Offer recommendations and provide supporting documentation for suitable actions to colleagues and supervisors.
- Implement follow-up procedures on discrepancies identified during the audit process to relevant parties.
- Act as a technical authority among peers, offering guidance, support, and training on complex or unusual production accountability matters.
Employment Conditions

- Background investigation and drug screening may be necessary.
- Must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements for males.

- Possession of an active real estate license or any interest in firms with stakes in Federal Lands is prohibited.
- New Federal government employees will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must meet the education and/or experience requirements outlined below. Your resume must clearly reflect your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, an unofficial transcript must accompany your application.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level:
- Specialized Experience GS-05: One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, which includes: (1) gathering specified data from various sources; (2) reviewing data sets for inconsistencies by comparing information from different sources; (3) assisting higher-level technicians in summarizing data sets for technical reports. Specialized experience may include roles such as clerk, administrative assistant, or technician in operations, engineering, or record-keeping activities.
- OR, Education GS-05: Successful completion of a full four-year course of study above the high school level from an accredited institution in any field for which high school graduation or equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (NOTE: A copy of your transcripts must be submitted.)
- OR, Combination GS-05: A combination of post-high school education and specialized experience as described above, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. (NOTE: Only education beyond the first 60 semester hours may be used to qualify under this option.)
Additional specialized experience requirements for higher grade levels (GS-06, GS-07, GS-08) are detailed in the original description. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Volunteer Experience: Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer activities through National Service programs and other organizations. Volunteer work contributes to building critical competencies and skills that are valuable for paid employment.
It is essential to provide detailed information regarding your experience, including months, years, and hours worked per week, to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience.
Education: To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts that include your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if selected, you must provide official transcripts before beginning work.
Graduate education is considered one academic year based on the number of credit hours determined by your graduate school to represent full-time study.
