Position Overview
The Senior Accounting Specialist plays a vital role within MRC Entertainment's Accounting department, reporting directly to the VP, Controller. This position collaborates with various teams across Film, Television, and Shared Services, ensuring seamless operations in all accounting functions. Key responsibilities encompass daily corporate accounting tasks such as accounts receivable management, cash application, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis, alongside supporting the period-end financial close and management reporting processes. Ideal candidates will be proactive, team-oriented individuals with relevant experience, a solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles, and strong analytical capabilities, adept at managing multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and monthly financial closes, ensuring timely delivery of management reports and analyses.
  • Contribute to the creation of quarterly financial statements, annual footnotes, and third-party reporting.
  • Support the annual financial statement audits and third-party participation audits.
  • Perform account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and forecast cash flows.
  • Monitor and report on financial commitments.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement improvements.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, with a preference for candidates with public accounting experience, CPA certification or in progress, and familiarity with the entertainment sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP accounting and experience in preparing financial statements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Concur).
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage details while maintaining a broader perspective.
  • A strong desire to learn and a passion for the entertainment industry.
  • Familiarity with ASC606 revenue recognition for Film and TV license agreements and participation statement reporting is advantageous.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
