The Marketing Division at Pierce Transit is on the lookout for a Marketing Intern.

In this position, you will have the chance to develop skills and competencies that will pave the way for a rewarding career in graphic design and marketing, while also gaining insights into the dynamic transit sector.

The ideal candidate will present an application that highlights their educational background and experience in marketing. The intern will collaborate with experienced professionals in the industry and assist in crafting engaging and precise content for both internal and external audiences. This role offers practical learning experiences as the selected individual will actively engage in a wide range of tasks. They will enhance their understanding of what it takes to thrive in a bustling marketing department where services are consistently in demand. Additionally, this person will learn to operate graphic design software and prepare digital artwork for in-house production or commercial printing. The intern will also interact with a diverse array of stakeholders, both within and outside of Pierce Transit.

Key Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties performed in this role, but rather a representative summary of the primary tasks and obligations. The incumbent may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be assigned additional, position-specific responsibilities.
  • Support the Marketing department while gaining insight into business practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist Marketing staff by revising and/or creating new graphic designs and layouts for various communication materials.
  • Utilize technical and manual tools to design signage, internal posters, informational brochures, maps, and schedules.
  • Perform essential support tasks for graphic design projects, including printing, trimming, and mounting displays on various substrates.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Employ centralized web-based software to manage and track design projects, keeping internal clients informed of project progress.
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a higher education institution with a focus on graphic design, art, or marketing, showcasing artistic aptitude through previous work.
Desired:
  • Experience with Macintosh-based graphic design software.
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check as part of the selection process.
  • This is a part-time, limited-duration position requiring 15 to 19 hours per week while college is in session, with the possibility of additional hours during breaks.
  • Students must work on-site during weekday day-shift hours.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
