Overview

We are in search of a seasoned professional to take on the role of Director of Tax at our corporate headquarters. The Director of Tax will be pivotal in steering the company's tax planning, compliance, and strategic initiatives. This position is essential for ensuring adherence to tax obligations while enhancing the company's tax efficiency. The Director will lead a dedicated team of tax experts, collaborate with external consultants, and engage with various departments to harmonize tax strategies with overarching business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:Tax Strategy Development:
  1. Formulate and execute tax strategies aimed at reducing the company's tax burden while ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  2. Provide insights to senior leadership regarding the tax ramifications of business operations and strategic initiatives.
  3. Evaluate and respond to changes in tax legislation, adapting strategies accordingly.
  4. Analyze intercompany transactions to mitigate risks associated with tax and customs authorities.
Tax Compliance Oversight:
  1. Supervise the preparation and submission of all tax returns, ensuring precision and timely filing.
  2. Guarantee compliance with relevant tax laws and reporting standards.
  3. Manage tax audits and inquiries from regulatory bodies.
Tax Accounting and Reporting:
  1. Direct the tax accounting processes, including the formulation of tax provisions and deferred tax computations.
  2. Ensure the accurate and timely inclusion of tax-related items in financial statements.
  3. Collaborate with the finance team to maintain proper documentation supporting tax positions.
Leadership and Team Development:
  1. Guide, mentor, and cultivate the tax team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  2. Establish performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations.
  3. Oversee the recruitment and retention of tax personnel.
Risk Management:
  1. Identify and mitigate tax-related risks through robust internal controls and policies.
  2. Ensure adequate documentation and support for tax positions and transactions.
  3. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to uphold a strong tax risk management framework.
Collaboration and Communication:
  1. Engage with other departments (e.g., Legal, Finance, Operations) to provide tax guidance and support on various initiatives.
  2. Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants as necessary.
  3. Effectively communicate complex tax matters and strategies to non-tax professionals, including senior management and the board.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  2. Master's degree in accounting with a focus on Taxation is required.
  3. A minimum of 10 years of tax experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  4. Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  5. Strong grasp of tax accounting principles and financial reporting.
  6. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective tax strategies.
  7. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience in a similar position within a large corporation or public accounting firm.
  2. International tax expertise.
  3. Practical experience with Onesource Tax Provision and Onesource Income Tax software and SAP.
