Position Overview

Role: Lead Tech

Location: San Antonio Botanical Gardens

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional guest service to uphold Memoir quality standards.
  • Oversee show preparations, including audio setup, power management, fog and snow machines, flame effects, lighting, and installation logistics.
  • Maintain and inspect all technical equipment throughout the event duration.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to power and signal flow.
  • Ensure event safety by monitoring guest behavior and addressing potential hazards, escalating concerns to management when necessary.
  • Respond to guest inquiries with accurate and current information about the event.
  • Execute daily opening and closing procedures relevant to the technical area.
  • Report directly to the Event Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including prolonged standing and walking.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. **Accommodations may be provided for differently-abled individuals to perform essential job functions.**
  • Punctuality and availability for all assigned shifts are required.
  • Possess reliable communication and transportation methods.
  • Staff must provide their own attire, subject to approval (recommended: black pants and shirts; closed-toe shoes are mandatory).
  • Willingness to undertake additional roles on-site after appropriate training, including ticket scanning and general event staffing.
  • Deep understanding of technical production elements such as audio, lighting, and effects, including protocols like DMX and MIDI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Willingness to perform maintenance on various event assets as needed.
  • Must be open to training and certification for Flame Effects Operator License, with costs covered by Memoir.

  • Exhibits excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Possesses 1-3 years of experience in setting up audio/visual equipment.
  • Has experience in maintaining audio/visual equipment.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Enjoys guest interaction while also contributing behind the scenes.
  • Is dependable and presents a professional demeanor.

Compensation: Starting at $20/hr, with potential for higher rates based on experience. Payments are made weekly.
