Medical Assistant (Phlebotomist) Job Description

Patient First is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant (Phlebotomist) to join our team in the Harrisburg, PA area. Our organization provides a supportive work environment that fosters a collaborative and patient-centered approach to care.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, obtain vital signs, and triage patients as needed to ensure timely and effective care.
  • Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies electronically, as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with nurses and physicians to ensure seamless patient care, including relaying symptoms and lab/x-ray needs.
  • Assist nurses and physicians with various patient treatments and care activities, prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Manage physician and nurse requests in a timely and respectful manner, maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to OSHA guidelines and other established protocols.
  • Participate in maintenance assignments as directed, ensuring the efficient operation of medical and office equipment.
  • Utilize the electronic medical record system effectively, completing assigned tasks and checklists within the designated shift.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster a positive and supportive team environment, promoting excellent patient care and service.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for all patients and visitors.


Requirements:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant certification or training preferred.
