The Residential Aide is a critical member of the McAuley House team, responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of residents during their stay. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Resident Support
- Conduct regular house checks to ensure resident safety and well-being
- Manage potential conflicts among residents and provide support as needed
- Supervise and check resident chores to maintain a clean and organized living space
- Meal Preparation and Service
- Prepare and serve meals to residents according to a set menu
- Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Perform housekeeping duties, including laundry, cleaning, and sanitizing
- Conduct regular fire and safety drills to ensure resident preparedness
- Medication Management
- Observe residents taking prescribed medication and sign off as instructed
- Count off on all controlled medication when relieving staff
- Reporting and Documentation
- Complete shift notes and incident reports as needed
- Write reports to Case Managers and the Program Supervisor regarding residents, incidents, and concerns
- Team Collaboration
- Attend monthly staff meetings and educational in-service training
- Participate in team discussions to ensure effective communication and collaboration
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with women diagnosed with mental health disorders, substance use, and compromised immune systems (e.g., HIV) preferred
- Skills and Qualities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond appropriately to delicate crises
- Competent decision-making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
