Position Summary:

The Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep of guestroom facilities and assists in the repair and maintenance of the organization's equipment. This position is accountable for the optimal performance of all units and common areas, as well as for executing a preventive maintenance strategy to minimize emergency repairs. Responsibilities encompass minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing tasks. The engineer must identify problem areas, assess the necessary repair efforts, and communicate these needs to management. Tasks include replacing light bulbs and air filters, along with other duties as assigned by management. Adherence to the guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, ensuring punctuality and adherence to clocking procedures.
  • Respond to guest requests in a polite, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Order tools, equipment, and supplies as needed for job tasks.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on all resort equipment, including kitchen, laundry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and guest rooms.
  • Engage in various maintenance activities such as painting, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and general upkeep of units and equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies, including fire alarms and power failures, and notify appropriate authorities.
  • Perform daily inspections of public areas to ensure functionality and cleanliness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all equipment and workspaces.
  • Complete maintenance work orders promptly and communicate any incomplete tasks to management before the end of the shift.
  • Document all materials used and identify parts that need to be ordered.
  • Report issues beyond personal expertise to a supervisor immediately.
  • Keep all mechanical areas tidy and organized.
  • Track work orders by room and conduct monthly audits to identify recurring issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, including sidewalks and landscaping.
  • Perform painting tasks as required.
  • Be available for after-hours on-call duties with a company-provided phone.
  • Basic Mechanical Duties Include:
  • Resetting keyless entry systems.
  • Performing minor repairs on plumbing fixtures and appliances.
  • Addressing repairs in plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, and general maintenance.
  • Changing vacuum bags and belts as necessary.
  • Replacing switches, plugs, and light fixtures as needed.
  • Lubricating and maintaining motors and equipment.
  • Ordering necessary repair materials.
  • Maintaining company vehicles as required.
  • Conducting oneself professionally at all times.
  • Participating in health and safety training sessions.
  • Reporting hazardous conditions to ensure safety for all employees and guests.
  • Keeping the environment clean by picking up trash and debris.
  • Assisting in the setup and breakdown of events as requested.
  • Being receptive to feedback and adhering to workplace policies.
  • Following directions from supervisors and collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Signing all necessary documentation as required by management.
  • Attending mandatory health and safety meetings.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and 6-12 months of experience in maintenance roles.
  • Background checks are a condition of employment.
  • Valid US Driver's License or identification card required.
  • Proficient mechanical skills with knowledge in multiple trades including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Capability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills to address a variety of situations.
  • Familiarity with resort or hotel operations is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and follow supervisory directions.
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
