Position Overview:

This role entails overseeing and guiding adult male ex-offenders within a correctional residential environment and in community settings. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  2. Adhere to mandatory overtime requirements as necessary.
  3. Stay alert and attentive during all shifts.
  4. Collaborate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and external partners.
  5. Meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
  6. Be adaptable to work at any assigned facility within the division.
  7. Supervise residents in communal areas such as living quarters, recreation spaces, and dining areas.
  8. Provide guidance to residents on the use of facility resources.
  9. Enforce established rules and regulations for residents.
  10. Encourage residents to maintain good personal hygiene and work habits.
  11. Oversee and assess residents' completion of assigned chores.
  12. Conduct regular checks of security devices and equipment.
  13. Administer drug tests and monitor compliance as required.
  14. Perform routine inspections of the facility, including resident areas.
  15. Initiate resident counts at irregular intervals.
  16. Conduct external surveillance checks as needed.
  17. Document incidents and prepare necessary reports, including disciplinary actions and medical incidents.
  18. Notify appropriate parties of incidents following established protocols.
  19. Monitor and record medication administration.
  20. Issue receipts for any financial transactions conducted by residents.
  21. Motivate residents to adhere to program standards through positive reinforcement and appropriate disciplinary measures.
  22. Ensure the safety and accountability of residents, while maintaining a secure and sanitary environment.
  23. Participate in training sessions as required.
  24. Attend regular staff meetings.
  25. Observe residents' activities in the community.
  26. Perform additional duties as assigned to fulfill job responsibilities.
  27. Enforce all regulations pertaining to offender supervision.
  28. Conduct accountability checks for residents on passes.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience in corrections, security, or social services is preferred. Candidates must successfully pass background checks, physical examinations, and drug screenings prior to employment. A valid driver's license is required; an insured vehicle is preferred.


Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of climbing multiple flights of stairs and moving throughout the facility. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, walk, and remain alert during shifts. In emergencies, the ability to evacuate individuals from the building within three minutes is essential. First Aid and CPR certification is required, and some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be necessary.


Skills and Competencies:

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with basic computer proficiency. The ability to engage positively with staff and residents is crucial, as is the capacity to de-escalate crisis situations. Cultural sensitivity and awareness of diverse backgrounds are important. Familiarity with security equipment, such as CCTV, is advantageous. A willingness to learn and apply evidence-based practices in resident interactions is expected.


Work Environment:

This position primarily involves interaction with residents, but also requires collaboration with other staff members, probation officers, visitors, family members, and community stakeholders.
