At the County of Chester, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Recreation Activity Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our residents by developing and implementing engaging programs that promote socialization, independence, and quality of life.

We offer a competitive salary of $42,984 per year, based on a 37.5-hour workweek and a 1-year experience level.

Job Summary:

The Resident Recreation Staff is responsible for creating and implementing daily programs of recreation that cater to diverse individual activity and social needs. This includes community adjustment and integration, enriched quality of life, maximum independence, and validation of self-worth.

A criminal background check is required for this position.

  • Implement a daily program of small group and one-on-one activities.
  • Facilitate independent recreation and socialization among residents.
  • Plan and prepare a monthly program of recreation and activity.
  • Write individual care plans for recreation, based on evaluations of each resident's needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team planning.
  • Document resident's progress toward care plan goals.
  • Cooperate with Activities Staff from all units in implementing whole-house events and trips out of Pocopson Home.
  • Help cover activities on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as scheduled.
  • Maintain a homelike environment on the unit (i.e., decorations, orientation, gardens, supply inventories, etc.).
  • Participate in activities and department meetings.
  • Participate in in-service education.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and special projects, as required.

This role requires strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Services or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a long-term care setting.
  • CPR certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain relevant clearances and assessments.
