Emergency Care Technician

Key Responsibilities- Delivers compassionate and respectful care tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
- Maintains cleanliness of stretchers and prepares examination rooms for incoming patients.
- Assists patients with their elimination needs while ensuring privacy and dignity.
- Provides proper nutritional support to patients during meal times.
- Helps in organizing and replenishing supplies in the emergency department rooms and carts.
- Facilitates patient mobility through various supportive tasks.
- Accurately performs tasks such as incentive spirometry and pulse oximetry.
- Actively participates in the Emergency Department Technician Practice Council.
- Collects blood samples through venipuncture and/or capillary finger stick methods.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience as a nursing assistant in a healthcare setting is required OR
- Successful completion of an accredited CNA or PCT training program is required OR
- Currently enrolled in a nursing degree program with completion of an introductory nursing course (e.g., Nursing 101) OR completion of a clinical rotation in an acute care environment OR
- One year of experience as an EMT.
Licenses and Certifications:
Current BLS certification (from the American Heart Association) is mandatory.
Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
EKG certification is preferred.
EMT certification is preferred.
*Certifications in Glucose, Phlebotomy, and EKG will be provided during orientation by CentraState.
Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification is required, with new hires needing to obtain certification within three months of employment. Renewal certifications are required every two years.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Possesses strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all members of the healthcare team.
