Surgical Anesthesia Specialist

The Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania is actively seeking a skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in providing support across various surgical environments by ensuring that all anesthesia equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the anesthesia team during surgical procedures, including inpatient, PACU, and operating room settings.
- Ensure that anesthesia carts are fully stocked and machines are operational between surgeries, including the replacement of gas tanks as necessary.
- Prepare and retrieve specialized anesthesia supplies as requested prior to procedures.
- Set up hemodynamic monitoring devices, including arterial and pulmonary artery catheters, EKGs, and pulse oximeters.
- Troubleshoot and ensure the functionality of anesthesia machines, addressing any equipment issues that arise.
- Support patient positioning and provide necessary materials for blood collection during surgical interventions.
- Assist in the setup of equipment for blood product delivery and autotransfusion processes.
- Help secure IVs and arterial lines, and provide assistance during intubation and extubation procedures.
- Postoperatively, clean and maintain anesthesia equipment, manage inventory, and order supplies as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned, including equipment disinfection, running errands, and troubleshooting under clinical engineering guidance.
Qualifications:
Prior experience as an Anesthesia Technician, Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is preferred.
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS certifications are preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in a surgical suite environment is required.
Work Schedule:
This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule with daytime hours, free from weekends, holidays, or on-call duties.
