Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating and takeoffs for interior design projects in custom home construction, home renovations, or upscale kitchen and bath remodels.
- Ability to effectively communicate with designers (and occasionally architects and structural engineers) for clarifications and to identify value engineering opportunities.
- Proficient in estimating software (such as Stack, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, etc.) and Excel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptual Estimation – Collaborate with the project management team to review plans and site photographs, participate in initial client consultations, discuss client preferences, timelines, and feasibility. Site visits are conducted by the project management team, with estimator involvement as necessary to gather field notes, assess existing conditions, and identify elements requiring replacement or attention for the conceptual estimate.
- Preconstruction Estimation – Deliver timely, value-oriented estimates by engaging with designers (and occasionally architects or structural engineers) for clarifications and value engineering opportunities. Develop a comprehensive construction budget through a bid leveling process based on trade days and received proposals.
- Final Construction Budget – Provide the project management team with bid leveling outcomes and finalize the budget for client presentation.
