We are seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Engineering Technician to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the incumbent for promotion to the next higher grade level, training to certification standards, and performing supervision and regulation of oil and gas operations under the lease management program on Federal and Indian lands.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare the incumbent for promotion to the next higher grade level
* Train to certification standards in drilling/work over, production, environmental protection, plugging and abandonment, compliance, and documentation
* Perform and/or assist in performing supervision and regulation of oil and gas operations under the lease management program on Federal and Indian lands
* Assist with/perform inspections of oil and gas leases to enforce all appropriate laws, rules, and regulations as well as the terms and conditions specified in the various approvals
* Perform general petroleum engineering technician work involving most phases of drilling and production inspection and enforcement activities
* Ensure safe and efficient development of operations for the successful production of minerals in conformity with Federal regulations and requirements
* Inspect all aspects of drilling operations to ensure they comply with the approved Application for Permit to Drill (APD), Sundry Notices (SN), lease terms, Notices to Lessees, Onshore Orders, and applicable regulations
