About the Role

This full-time Staff position will be working within our Blood Donor Services team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as a nurse and a strong background in blood donor services. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled team and make a difference in the lives of donors.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide competent nursing care representing the highest of nursing standards based on specific principles and the use of accepted nursing practice.
  2. Perform manual and automated blood collection.
  3. Document relevant and required donor information in accordance with all Regulatory Standards.
  4. Collaborate with all involved medical professionals.
  5. Oversee non-MD BDC personnel in adhering to recognized standards.
  6. Train and orient new staff.
  7. Troubleshoot operational issues and advance to the Nurse Manager when and where appropriate.
  8. Use resources efficiently to address changes in a fluctuating environment.
  9. Assist in management of supplies and equipment.
  10. Serve as a resource for all staff.
  11. Provide donor education.
  12. Interact and communicate with blood drive coordinators and marketing department.
  13. Maintain complete confidentiality of patient and donor information and records, as outlined by the MGH Privacy/Confidentiality/HIPAA policies.
Requirements:
  • Current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • CPR Instructor certification a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Associate's degree in Nursing with relevant significant blood donor related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
