Unity Health is seeking a skilled Certified Medical Coder to join our team in the CBO Billing Office. As a key member of our healthcare team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assigning accurate diagnostic codes to patient charts and reports.
Key Responsibilities- Assigns appropriate diagnostic codes to patient charts and reports as assigned.
- Works under pressure and in conditions of frequent interruptions, requiring considerable initiative and judgment.
- Collects and analyzes medical record data, making independent decisions as needed.
- Collaborates with the Clinic Manager to ensure accurate and efficient coding practices.
- High school education with skill in using office machines and coding certification from an accredited school.
- Minimum of 1 year experience coding health records, with the ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
- Medical Billing and ICD-9 and CPT coding experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will work in a well-lighted, air-conditioned office with interaction to medical care areas. The position requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as bending, stooping, and stretching for files and supplies. Occasional lifting of files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds may be required.
