Job Summary

The Assistant Rink Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Boss Ice Arena during events and non-event times. This role will assist the Director of Ice Rink with planning and implementation of associated work tasks, as well as supervise part-time staff to ensure the facility is in excellent working order.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily front-of-house operations and staff members.
  • Oversee the operation of a popular Learn to Skate program.
  • Assist in scheduling and marketing ice time, as well as follow-up communication with customers regarding payment schedules.
  • Assist in overseeing and supervising game management as needed for all events.
  • Manage public relations between customers and rink management.
  • Answer inquiries and communicate information regarding programs and facility policy, often under stressful conditions requiring exceptional independent judgment and discretion.
  • Make financial projections and monitor finances for Public Programs and Events.
  • Assist in coordinating purchasing needs for the arena, monitoring and tracking usage of all materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist Director of Ice Rink in project planning and execution, as well as work closely with the Operations Manager.
  • Interact positively with all departments, vendors, clients, and guests of the facility to successfully accomplish facility objectives.
  • Create and implement training programs for staff members.
  • Prepare office staff schedules and payroll maintenance.
  • Prepare fiscal evaluation summaries for the Director of Ice Rink, needs analysis, and purchase orders for all projects.
  • Serve as Manager-on-Duty when the Director of Ice Rink is not in the building, which may include oversight of public programs sessions as needed.
  • Assist in general maintenance and cleanliness of the skating center, including the lobby, officials room, shower and bath, locker room, bleachers, and other areas as assigned.
  • Perform staff duties as needed, such as cashiering, collecting admission tickets, booking birthday parties, and group rentals.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the Boss Arena marketing plan in conjunction with the Ryan Center Marketing Manager.
  • Coordinate charitable events initiatives, such as food drives, toy drives, and community fundraisers.
  • Operate the Ice Resurfacer (currently a Zamboni) as needed.
Requirements
  • Two years of supervisory experience, preferably in the sports and entertainment field.
  • College degree required.
  • High level of proficiency in Windows environment with extensive experience in Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize accordingly.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and in teams.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license.
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule and extended hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to traditional business hours.
