Key Responsibilities- Provide routine daily nursing care and services to residents, adhering to their individual care plans and as directed by supervisors.
- Report any changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, and other relevant documents in a clear and descriptive manner.
- Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information, and report any suspected or known violations of disclosure.
- Perform only nursing care procedures that you have been trained to do.
- Create and maintain a positive and calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- Participate in and receive the nursing report as instructed.
- Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs) of residents, as instructed.
- Assist residents with daily functions, such as dental and mouth care, bathing, and dressing.
- Keep residents dry and change gowns, clothing, and linens as needed.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
- Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers.
- Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
- Use only equipment you have been trained to use and report defective equipment to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk, read or hear. Frequent use of all office-related equipment to include copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
