Job Title: Bus Driver - Transit Operations

TransForce is seeking a reliable and skilled Bus Driver to join our team in the Department of Parking and Transportation at the University of Virginia. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for operating a transit bus unit on a fixed route, providing transportation services to the University community, and supporting University-wide events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a transit bus unit on a fixed route
  • Provide transportation services to the University community
  • Support University-wide events
  • Ensure safe operation of the transit bus
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 8 months of prior work experience required
  • Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Type A or B with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements or a valid State of Virginia Driver's License and the ability to obtain the CDL with endorsements within the first 45 days of hire required
  • Ability to follow and enforce specific instructions and communicate effectively with the public and over two-way radio
  • General knowledge of computer usage and ability to type, use email, and interface with web-based systems for payroll and performance management
Benefits:
  • Compensation starts at $19.00 per hour for drivers requiring any or all components of CDL training and $20.00 per hour for drivers already holding a CDL Class A or B with Air Brakes and the Passengers endorsement
  • Predetermined shift differential dependent on hours and days worked is applied on top of hourly base pay
  • Full-time non-exempt position with UVA benefits, including 22 days of paid time off, increasing with service, 13+ paid holidays each year, in addition to paid time off, health plan with options to meet healthcare and financial needs, retirement through the Virginia Retirement System, tuition and professional development benefits, and employee wellness program featuring activities to earn up to $500/year
