Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tool and Die Technician to join our team at Toyota Boshoku America. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining progressive and transfer stamping tools, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency in our production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support production by ensuring tools are ready for production.
  • Repair and maintain stamping dies, fixtures, weld cells, and swage machines.
  • Use manual tools to repair and maintain stamping progressive and transfer dies.
  • Operate manual and automatic surface grinders to complete required work.
  • Measure and make shims to ensure proper timing of the die is maintained.
  • Weld and repair worn or broken die details.
  • Use an overhead crane to move and flip dies daily.
  • Troubleshoot parts when quality issues arise and adjust dies to improve part condition.
  • Verify work in spotting press to ensure work is correct.
  • Troubleshoot die while in the press and complete repairs as needed.
  • Complete predictive PMs on progressive and transfer dies.
  • Work with other Journeyman Tool & Die makers to complete required tasks.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Document completion of all required processes in Asset Essentials system.
  • Read technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to check tool dimensions and ensure accurate part quality.
  • Must have personal tools to complete tasks as required.
  • Work with the Engineering department to improve processes.
  • Utilize TPS techniques to standardize processes, identify waste, and eliminate waste.
  • Maintain daily 5S in the work area and with assigned equipment.
  • Understand and follow the TB Way philosophy and adhere to it within a team-oriented environment.
  • Work beyond regular schedule, including daily and weekend overtime, as required to meet Just-In-Time demands.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Tool and Die certificate/diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 years Tool & Die Progressive die experience required.
  • 2-5 years' experience in welding required.
  • 2-5 years' experience with CAD, CNC programming a plus.
  • Experience drawing and programming with MasterCam a plus.
  • CNC, Machine shop, and Kaizen experience a plus.
Work Environment

Standard automotive plant environment with high decibel noise levels, flashing lights, and alarms/notification systems. PPE may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

Physical Demands

Capable of standing 100% of time and must be able to bend, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to grip tools and objects, stretch and/or reach with hands and arms; using hands to finger, handle, feel, twist, walk, twisting (standing), bend at the waist, and do repetitive motions.
