Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Job SummaryThe Residential Instructor will be responsible for providing direct care and support to clients, including creating a positive learning environment, developing strategies to help clients cope with daily living situations, and facilitating independent performance in areas such as social, emotional, and physical development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized plans of care to meet the unique needs of each client.
- Provide direct care and support to clients, including assistance with daily living activities, medication administration, and transportation.
- Monitor and report any changes in client behavior, medical conditions, or other relevant information to supervisors and medical professionals.
- Participate in training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as behavioral support, crisis intervention, and client-centered care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of client progress, including incident reports, medication administration records, and other relevant documentation.
- Assist with household management, including meal preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of the residential environment.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, promoting a positive and empowering environment.
- Participate in community-based outings and activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Familiarize yourself with Community Residences policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and agency standards.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience in the field of human services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
- Ability to lift and transfer 70-75 pounds, with the physical stamina to perform active work in a residential setting.
- Valid CT driver's license and a good driving record, with reliable transportation.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.
