JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: ATTORNEY – SHOW LOW OFFICE

OVERVIEW: Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. is seeking a dedicated attorney to join its Show Low office. This program provides essential legal services across nine counties in Arizona and eleven Indian Reservations. The Show Low office focuses on serving the communities of Navajo, Apache, and Gila Counties, situated in the picturesque White Mountain region of Northeastern Arizona. This area is known for its recreational opportunities, including skiing, fishing, and hunting.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The attorney will engage in a diverse range of civil legal representation and litigation aimed at assisting low-income individuals. The position may require travel to various communities within Navajo, Gila, and Apache counties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Candidates must be a member of the Arizona Bar, eligible for admission, or pass the upcoming exam; those licensed for two years in another jurisdiction may practice under special rules.
2. Applicants should demonstrate a strong sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income communities and possess the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups. Strong initiative, communication skills, and the capacity to work in a multicultural environment are essential.
3. Knowledge of general civil practice, particularly in relation to low-income clients, is required.

COMPENSATION: The salary range is competitive and based on experience, starting from $50,050 to $86,962. Additionally, there is potential for up to 5% extra compensation for individuals fluent in a language other than English that is prevalent among the eligible client population. Financial assistance for law school loans is also available, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
