Position Overview:

The Behavior Support Specialist is responsible for collaborating with Behavior Support Consultants to provide essential support in various capacities, including classroom observation, data collection, and staff training on behavior protocols. This role may also involve special projects related to administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver behavioral consultation to educational teams under the guidance of Behavior Support Consultants.
  2. Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  3. Collect, organize, and maintain relevant data.
  4. Assist in training staff on effective behavioral strategies.
  5. Contribute to the preparation of reports.
  6. Conduct all responsibilities in alignment with best practices and ethical standards.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in computer applications

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma

Preferred: Associate's Degree or higher in Human Services, Special Education, or a related field

Experience: 1-2 years in developing and implementing behavior support plans for individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health concerns using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies.

Licensure:

• Valid NYS Driver's License

Training:

• New Hire Orientation

Physical Requirements:

This position primarily involves sedentary work with occasional light physical exertion. The role requires sitting as a constant demand, with frequent needs for standing, walking, and other physical activities.

Compensation:

Hourly pay range: $19 - $24, commensurate with experience and internal equity.
