Job Summary:

As a Certified Nursing Assistant Educator, you will be responsible for teaching organized classes primarily in the Health Sciences discipline, providing evidence of knowledge and understanding of racial, socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community college populations, and adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners. Your primary responsibility will be to teach up to 10 units (part-time) in the assigned discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct organized classes at the instructional level, meeting educational requirements stated in course descriptions and outlines.

  • Advise and assist students in achieving course objectives, evaluating student progress, and connecting them to campus support services.

  • Participate in the evaluation of course offerings, including revising course descriptions and outlines to reflect culturally responsive pedagogy.

  • Coordinate with other faculty in selecting textbooks, audiovisual materials, and other instructional resources that align with the college's mission.

  • Maintain necessary records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with Education Code and district policies.

  • Report any condition that may jeopardize student or public health and safety.

  • Assist in marketing and promoting the program through participating in college events and visiting local businesses and schools.

  • Participate in departmental, divisional, advisory, and campus-wide committees to advance shared governance and service area needs.

  • Plan and complete approved professional development activities each semester/year.

  • Collaborate with Success Teams to monitor, advise, and ensure student equity and success through completion and post-graduation outcomes.

  • Provide guidance and direction to readers and/or Instructional Support Assistants as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Dean to assure smooth functioning of the Division and Programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience or Associate's degree with six years of professional experience.

  • Applicant must be able to meet minimum educational qualifications set forth by the District and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) current License

  • Two (2) years of nursing experience (either RN or LVN)

  • One (1) year of verifiable experience as a licensed nurse (RN or LVN) providing care to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care home, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care settings.

  • Completion of course(s) in teaching adults OR 1 year of verifiable experience in teaching adults OR 1 year of verifiable experience supervising nurse aides

  • Meet the CA Board of Registered Nursing requirements

  • Experience in teaching postsecondary courses in Health Sciences, Nursing Assistant Program, or RN program

  • Knowledge of basic ADL Skills, personal care skills pertaining to resident care in a long-term care facility

  • Ability to perform and instruct skills according to the CA Department of Public Health

  • Ability to supervise and assist at least 15 students in a long-term care facility

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different students' abilities, learning styles, culture, and ethnic groups.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching in a variety of settings, including online, dual enrollment, and large lecture. A willingness to develop and utilize instructional materials, including lectures and labs for multi-modalities.

  • Ability to use innovative and creative teaching techniques (lecture and labs) and equipment, including the use of multimedia hardware, current applications, and online instructional strategies. Working knowledge of Canvas is particularly desirable.

Salary Estimate: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
