Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and supervise pharmacy technician staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Provide leadership and guidance to technicians, assisting with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to technician job functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assure consistent, compliant, and safe technician work practices, maintaining quality control in the provision of services.
- Screen, interview, and recommend technician applicants for employment.
- Provide input and assist with the evaluation of technician performance, offering feedback and guidance as needed.
- Develop training materials and ensure that all technicians receive appropriate training and development opportunities.
- Assist in staff development and skills maintenance activities, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Participate in division goal planning and quality improvement activities, ensuring the adoption of resulting practice expectations by the technician group.
- Manage technician scheduling, ensuring that daily job functions are executed adequately.
- Complete time and attendance records for payroll, adhering to DUHS policies.
- Conduct and manage technician meetings, providing a forum for the exchange of information and ideas.
- Oversee supply chain management, including adherence to inventory control procedures and maintenance of non-Duke vendor inventory.
- Respond to internal and external customer service requests, prioritizing the needs of patients and multidisciplinary team members.
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
- Acceptance into pharmacy school.
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or healthcare-related experience.
- College coursework in business/management, position-specific advanced coursework, and/or an equivalent combination.
- Minimum of two years of pharmacy technician experience.
- North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration.
- Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
- Considerable knowledge of drug names, medical terminology, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to implement solutions.
- Excellent customer service skills, prioritizing the needs of patients and multidisciplinary team members.
- Strong organizational skills, staying focused on assigned tasks and using time and resources effectively.
