Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

At Optum, we're redefining health care with a focus on health equity, affordability, quality, and convenience. We're seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team in the Pacific West region.

Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will be responsible for operating radiologic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, performing routine diagnostic procedures, and providing exceptional patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specialize in the production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for the detection of breast tumors
  • Position patients on examining tables and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified areas of the body
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation
  • Move x-ray equipment into specified positions and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff
  • Examine radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion
  • Process radiographic images and send them to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
  • Ensure equipment is in working order and report equipment malfunctions to supervisors
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and participate in professional development activities
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Oregon license in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Current certification by the ARRT
  • Current healthcare level CPR/BLS certification
  • 1+ years of mammography experience
Preferred Qualification
  • Epic and PACS experience
