Position Overview:

This role is dedicated to developing educational plans and instructing students enrolled in the Special Needs Scholarship Program at LUMIN Schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a Wisconsin DPI License in Cross Categorical Special Education or regular education (preferred). A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential. Degrees in Social Work and Guidance Counseling are highly regarded.
  • Capable of crafting tailored educational plans in accordance with the student's latest IEP.
  • Skilled in adapting, accommodating, and modifying assignments to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Proficient in delivering instruction in mathematics, reading, and writing through various teaching strategies and methodologies.
  • Able to collaborate and co-teach effectively with other educators in the regular education framework.
  • Engage with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and establish academic priorities.
  • Embrace a Christian-based philosophy and principles, extending these values to students and their families.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable level of personal vehicle insurance.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of personal computers and software applications (including Microsoft Office and Google Drive/Docs/Sheets).
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working with a diverse population of children, youth, and adults.
  • Establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues while upholding appropriate boundaries.
  • Demonstrate experience in an urban educational setting, with awareness of challenges faced by at-risk youth.
  • Possess a clear understanding of special education requirements and initiatives.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills.
  • Enjoy collaborating with various disciplines to solve problems.
  • Effectively communicate and work across multiple environments.
  • Recognize and accept the significance of Christ-centered interventions, holding a personal belief in the transformative power of faith.
Working Conditions:

Position Requirements:
  • Commitment to a Christian-based philosophy and principles, extending these to students and families.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.
  • Teacher must secure Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification and maintain it through ongoing education.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working with a diverse population.
  • Capability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Experience in an urban school environment, with a general understanding of issues affecting at-risk youth, is preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate and function in various settings and environments.

Salary: Starting at $43,000 (FTE) and commensurate with experience and advanced degrees.
