About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Westwood Professional Services. As a key member of our Renewables Division, you will play a critical role in the design and development of commercial and utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construction Document Production: Support the creation of high-quality construction documents for electrical power and distribution systems.
  • Design Team Coordination: Collaborate with civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, and surveyors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • AutoCAD Utilization: Utilize AutoCAD to create construction documents, perform quantity takeoffs, and maintain site layouts, wire/cable routing plans, and equipment schedules.
  • Wiring/Cable Scheduling: Create accurate wiring/cable schedules based on takeoffs and sizing input from senior designers/engineers.
  • Design Standards: Maintain awareness and knowledge of Westwood design/CAD standards.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to create complex electrical designs.
  • Electrical Design Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of electrical design concepts, including NEC and NESC standards.
  • Education and Experience: Associates Degree or Technical School Certificate in Electrical Design, Solar Design, Architectural/Engineering Drafting, or related degree, with approximately 2-5 years of experience in electrical power/distribution systems design.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office products and ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering: A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D Experience: Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS is a plus.
  • ETAP and SKM Experience: Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, CYME, or similar software packages used for electrical power system modeling and analysis.
  • NABCEP Certification: NABCEP certification is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a minimum salary of $70,000 per year and a maximum salary of $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
