The Dental Hygienist provides dental care and promotes dental health by performing a variety of tasks under the supervision of a licensed dentist. They assess patient needs, clean teeth, take and develop dental x-rays, and educate patients on proper oral hygiene.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare treatment room and select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits.
- Provide oral hygiene and postoperative instructions to patients and answer their questions.
- Maintain and sterilize dental instruments, document dental hygiene services and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, and conserve dental resources.
- Ensure proper functioning of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygienist school.
- Experience: Two (2) years' experience, preferably in a correctional or detention facility setting.
- Licenses/Certifications: Unrestricted current Dental Hygiene license, certification or registration in state of practice, and current lifesaving BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA.
