MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for the assessment, direction, and supervision of participants in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program.
Key Responsibilities- Perform basic, routine, and specialized tasks to ensure patients' success in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs.
- Evaluate medical history and current physical status of participants and assess their baseline functional capacity and personal health factors.
- Obtain necessary materials from the Medical Director for enrollment and perform new patient orientations.
- Develop and implement plans of care utilizing principles of exercise physiology and instruct participants in proper techniques and use of equipment.
- Monitor exercise sessions, assessing participants for inappropriate responses to exercise and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Document progress reports and discharge summaries appropriately.
- Provide teaching and instruction to patients, family members, and staff on disease process, prevention, and discharge planning and health maintenance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to establish plans of care and continuum of care.
- Maintain current knowledge, certification, and licensure and identify learning needs in self and initiate actions to address these education needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 3-4 years clinical exercise physiology experience preferred.
- ACSM Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) preferred.
