Job Summary

Nexus Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled RN to join our pediatric med surg team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with complex medical, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' physical and mental health status through comprehensive nursing assessments, including medical history review, vital signs monitoring, and mental status examinations.
  • Implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, addressing both medical and psychiatric needs, and ensuring a therapeutic milieu.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions according to physician orders and established protocols, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficacy within the unit.
  • Monitor patients' response to treatments and medications and evaluate for any adverse reactions, side effects, and changes in condition.
  • Perform nursing procedures and interventions, such as wound care, IV therapy, catheterization, administration of emergency psychiatric medications, and restraint management.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate integrated medical and psychiatric services.
  • Completes all required documentation in a timely manner, including assessments, interventions, daily summaries, care plans, and risk assessments.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Preferred minimum of at least one (1) year of experience in the acute/post-acute or pediatric setting and previous psychiatric nursing experience.
  • Maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State performing duties.
  • Certified in BLS upon hire date.
  • Certified in ACLS and PALS with forty-five (45) days of hire date.
  • Patient de-escalation training (SAMA) is required within 30 days of hire.
