Job Title: Garage Mechanic

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Garage Mechanic to join our team at Tampa Electric. As a Garage Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing all phases of repair, service, and/or fabrication on our fleet and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairs to our light vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy-equipment fleet.
  2. Perform automotive troubleshooting and repairs in engine repair, automatic transmission & transaxle, manual drive train and axles, suspension & steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating & air conditioning, and engine performance.
  3. Perform vehicle and non-vehicle welding and/or fabrication.
  4. Perform all phases of troubleshooting and repairs to mobile hydraulic equipment and/or systems (aerial lifts, digger derricks, and cranes, etc.).
  5. Perform all phases of troubleshooting and repairs to construction equipment (bull dozers, front-end loaders, etc.).
  6. Perform preventative maintenance routines on vehicular and non-vehicular equipment.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Commercial Driver License Class A (general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicle) with H endorsement required.
  • Certain Tampa Electric specific and national certifications are required for this position, refer to the IBEW Intent Book.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related experience.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities.

Work Environment:

This position will require irregular work schedules, including night-shift assignments, temporary assignments to various Fleet locations, overtime, the ability to respond to call outs/road calls (Garage Mechanic III only), occasional work on weekends, the use of personal tools, and the use of a personal vehicle for business-related transportation.
