Job Summary

The Utility Technician is a bargaining unit position that requires general knowledge and ability to perform basic construction-related skills and utility skills such as, but not limited to, use of air and hand tools, equipment operation, pipefitting, MRSLIP, turn-ons and shut-offs, vehicle safety, safe material handling, after-hours work, and exposure to weather.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform construction and maintenance work
  • Conduct meter work, including building and replacing meters
  • Locate and identify underground utilities
  • Operate MRSLIP equipment
  • Perform turn-on and light-up procedures
  • Respond to emergency calls and perform after-hours work as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability for shift work and after-hours call-out
