Locum Tenens General Medicine Physician Opportunity

We are currently seeking experienced General Medicine Physicians for a locum tenens role in Alaska. This position offers a flexible schedule and the chance to conduct essential Compensation & Pension (C&P) evaluations and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans. This ongoing role allows you to make a significant contribution to Veteran healthcare while enjoying a work-life balance.
Role Details:

Key Responsibilities:
  • C&P Evaluations:
    • Conduct one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension evaluations and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans.
    • Perform evaluations through interviews and some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
    • No prescribing or treatment is necessary, allowing you to concentrate on delivering thorough and precise assessments.
  • Specialization Requirements:
    • Open to physicians from Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or those with a general medicine background.
    • Knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, and cardiovascular issues is crucial.
    • Experience in METs testing and the evaluation of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions is required.
Work Environment:
  • Flexible Options:
    • Two coverage options are available: Travel to perform evaluations at a designated facility or schedule Veterans within your own practice.
    • Flexibility to work half-days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours) based on your availability and preferences.
Support & Training:
  • Training Provided: Comprehensive training will be offered for all Reporting/Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
  • Documentation:
    • Complete and submit Reporting/DBQs within 48 hours of evaluation completion.
    • No narrative report is required; the final deliverable is the completion of standardized forms.
    • Ongoing administrative tasks, including addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic readings, will be necessary.
Equipment & Technology:
  • Laptop Requirement: Providers must utilize their own personal laptop (NO MACs).
  • Quick Credentialing: Expedited credentialing and onboarding are available to ensure prompt start.
Qualifications:
  • Eligible Specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or any Physician with a background in general medicine or experience with compensation and pension evaluations.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Use of a Goniometer is required.
    • DMA certification is available (CME credits can be earned); certification must be obtained once privileged if not already certified. This certification is provided free of charge.
