Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Physician (Urologist) to provide comprehensive urologic care for patients within the scope of urology. This is a full-time position in the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urology and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

The urology staff physician will be responsible for patient care, patient education, and resident supervision. The scope of this activity covers all phases of clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The physician will also be responsible for administrative duties, including writing medical orders and prescriptions, documenting care in the computerized patient record system, and obtaining consent and documenting procedures performed.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand for long periods, walk, and lift moderate weights. The physician must also have good hand-eye coordination and be able to use fingers to manipulate objects.

Security Clearance

This position requires a security clearance. The VA will conduct a background investigation on the selected candidate prior to appointment.
